Kaila is a collaborative musician and theatre artist from Kenosha, Wisconsin. Kaila has been studying violin since age 3, voice since age 10, and also plays the cello, viola, piano, and ukulele. Kaila received both her Bachelor of Music Education and her Master of Music in Music Theatre Vocal Pedagogy from Carthage College. Kaila’s recent composition/music design credits include ‘NEATH THE HILLS OF BASTOGNE (Sunstone Studios), THE TEMPEST (Voices Found Repertory), THE MELANCHOLY PLAY (Fleeing Artists Theatre), and THE REVOLUTIONISTS (Carthage College). One of Kaila’s most memorable experiences was participating in a new play development project titled “Project: Panic” for which Kaila composed and recorded new music for two plays, RAGE AGAINST YOUTH and FLASHES, under a 24-hour time constraint. In addition to traditional compositions, Kaila has increasingly integrated Foley into her practice and is particularly fond of singing bowls. Kaila has performed on stage and in the pit orchestras of numerous productions, including being the violinist for PASSING BY, a new musical performed at the Chicago Musical Theater Festival and the New York Musical Theater Festival (off-Broadway).
